COVID-19 update

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

Many measures have been imposed due to the outbreak of coronavirus. These measures not only affect our daily lives but may also affect our events scheduled for the summer. This FAQ document will answer all your questions, so you can plan your summer with confidence.

We are in close contact with various government agencies and the Royal Dutch Hockey Association (KNHB). In addition, we closely monitor the instructions and guidelines issued by (local) authorities and governments, the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM) and the World Health Organization. We will keep you informed as much as possible on this page and will try to keep the information as up to date as possible.

Important! We apply different policies and conditions for the different types of hockey camps that we organise. If we do not make a distinction between the various camps in an answer, the policy applies to all types of camp. If we do make a distinction between our various types of camp in an answer, then different policies apply. So look carefully to check you are reading the correct answer! We offer the following types of camp:

  • Day camps in the Netherlands and Belgium;
  • Overnight camps in the Netherlands, Belgium and Spain;
    • With the Overnight camps, we also make a distinction between registration before and after 1 April 2020. Read here why we do that.
  • The International Day camps in the United Kingdom, Germany, Austria and Italy;
  • The Expat Camp YES! in the Netherlands.
    • With the Expat Camp YES! we do not make a distinction between the day and night camps.

Is your question not answered here or do you have any other questions? Please contact us. We will do our best to answer the question within 24 hours.

We are part of the ‘Save your ticket, enjoy later’ initiative. By taking part in this scheme, you can help us continue our efforts and come back again next year. In this Q&A, you can read about how we are implementing this initiative.

1. “HOW IS SPORTWAYS DEALING WITH CORONAVIRUS?"

Our priority is the health and safety of our participants and staff. We therefore closely monitor developments, so that we can respond quickly and adequately when necessary. We will also follow the advice and guidelines issued by the national government, the RIVM and the World Health Organization.

2. “I HAVE BOOKED A HOCKEY CAMP; WILL THE CAMP STILL TAKE PLACE?"

We are assuming that we will start the summer holidays without any measures in place and that all our camps will be able to take place. As long as coronavirus does not pose a direct threat to public health and the measures imposed by the government permit it, we see no reason to cancel the camps for the time being. If the situation changes, we will contact you as soon as possible.

3. “I WANT TO BOOK A HOCKEY CAMP; WILL THE CAMP STILL TAKE PLACE?”

We are taking a positive view of the summer holidays: we are assuming that we will start the summer holidays without any measures in place and that all our camps will be able to take place. Nevertheless, we understand that it is difficult to make plans for the summer at this time. That is why we are explaining our policy here, so you can plan ahead with confidence as there are still places available and perhaps some fun to look forward to!

4. “WHEN WILL SPORTWAYS DECIDE TO CANCEL A CAMP?"

We are assuming that we will start the summer holidays without any measures in place and that all our camps will be able to take place. If the government and the RIVM advise against organising planned events or if they impose measures that prevent events from continuing, we will have no other choice than to cancel our camps. If the situation changes, we will contact you as soon as possible.

5. “WHAT HAPPENS IF A HOCKEY CAMP IS CANCELLED?"

As soon as we are forced to cancel a hockey camp, we will send you an e-mail as soon as possible. This e-mail will explain your options. Read more about the terms and conditions here.

6. “CAN SPORTWAYS CHANGE, MODIFY OR CANCEL ACTIVITIES DURING THE CAMP?"

We can make changes to ensure the health and safety of our participants and staff and/or to ensure that a camp can continue. This means that, as the organiser of the camp, we have the right to change or modify the content, the programme and so on, of our camps -- for example, observing a distance of one and half metres; social distancing.

7. “WHAT ARE THE CANCELLATION CONDITIONS IF SPORTWAYS CANCELS A CAMP?"

The cancellation conditions depend on the type of camp you have registered for. The conditions for each type of camp are explained below.
